Three Things I Swear By #1

Someone once told me I look like I’m always up to something—and they’re not wrong. Lately, I’ve been up to something big: thinking about how to save you even more time.

What started as a passion project has become something more purposeful. I’ve written so much about finding your “why,” and it hit me—I needed to apply that same principle to DAOFitLife. This isn’t just a hobby. It’s a solution.

So, we’re switching things up.

Starting now, you’ll get a quick, to-the-point newsletter each week called “Three Things I Swear By.”

Here’s why:

  1. You’re busy. I won’t waste your time.
  2. You’ll get digestible, actionable hacks—no pressure to overhaul your life overnight.
  3. I want us to stay connected.
  4. Whether it’s here or on LinkedIn, I want to hear from you—your wins, your questions, your insights. I read every email. I see every comment.

Yes, I’ll still post articles and curated content for when you’re scrolling at the gate or waiting in line. But the real assignment? That’s mine. To give you a small, consistent reminder each week that it is possible to have a successful career and a fulfilling, balanced life—without sacrificing your well-being.

We’re just getting started. And no better way than with the first set of things.

Because life is too short for boring workouts, bland food, or being glued to your chair. When people ask me how I stay fit, focused, and still find time to enjoy life (and the occasional donut), the truth is simple — I’ve got a few go-to hacks that never fail me. Here are three things I swear by — one for food, one for life, and one for movement — that keep me energized, efficient, and feeling like my best self.

🥗 1. Food Hack: The Wolf in Clean Eating Clothing

Do you ever just want a donut? Or a flaky pastry? Same. In fact, my favorite pastry is Honey Buns. Maybe because it reminds me of what me and my friends in high school used to scarf down after trolling the aisles of 7 eleven on a Friday night. Unfortunately I don’t have a 17 year old’s metabolism anymore, but I did think of a clever way to have my honey bun and eat it too.

Instead of resisting the craving, I work with it. Enter my signature Honey-Do Banana Bun — the perfect mix of indulgent and intentional. You can do this with any sweet pastry or cake or brownie you like. Muffins and cupcakes work just fine too. So do cookies!

Here’s the trick:

  • Take half a donut (or any pastry you love)
  • Add half a mashed banana
  • Top with a scoop of Greek yogurt
  • Drizzle with honey and a dash of cinnamon

Suddenly, you’ve turned a sugar bomb into a balanced, satisfying meal/snack. It’s sweet, protein-packed, and still gives you that bakery-level vibe. A wolf in clean eating clothing — because healthy doesn’t have to mean boring. The best time to have something like this is right after the gym. I have previously shared about stacking carbs around my workout if you want a reminder read this post.

And the best part? Satisfying a craving in this proportional way will eliminate sugar cravings for later.

🧠 2. Life Hack: Walk While You Work

I recently came across a Shape Magazine feature titled: “I Walked 11+ Miles On My Underdesk Treadmill from 9 to 5 — Here’s What Happened.” It got me thinking: movement and meetings don’t have to be mutually exclusive. If you don’t have the space or budget for an underdesk treadmill, don’t worry — I’ve got you:

My Zoom Walking Tips:

  • Mute and walk during internal calls
  • Use wireless earbuds and take laps while you brainstorm or review slides
  • Schedule walking 1:1s — turn catch-ups into step-ups

Even five minutes an hour adds up. Your brain will feel sharper, your body less stiff, and your step count? On fire. If you want to watch my video and read the complete guide send yourself here:

💪 3. Movement Hack: One and Done with AMRAP

Confession: I hate counting reps. I hate doing sets of anything. I want to get in, go hard, and be done. I don’t want to worry about someone taking my machine while I’m in between sets. I don’t want to count. I work for an accounting firm so that’s enough accounting for me.

That’s why I swear by AMRAP — As Many Reps As Possible.

Here’s how I make it fun:

  • Pick a song with a strong chorus (bonus if it’s from your favorite show)
  • Assign a different movement to each section of the song
  • Go for the entire track — and that’s your set

🎶 This week’s go-to: “Greenback Boogie” from Suits (because who doesn’t want to train like a boss in a metaphorical pinstripe?)

  • Squats during the verse
  • Jump squats during the chorus
  • Glute bridges during the bridge

Two songs = workout done. No counting, just sweating. And a major confidence boost.

Greenback boogie – 1 hr loop

I love listening to this while getting ready too – makes me feel so BOSS.
