Three Things I Swear By – November Edition
Welcome to the DAOFitLife wellness series that delivers one diet hack, one fitness trick, and one life upgrade you can actually stick with. These tips are served Dr. Seuss-style — because why not have fun while building better habits?
THREE THINGS TO MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER, LOOK BETTER, AND DEAL BETTER.
There’s a point in every season — especially when the deadlines pile up and motivation flatlines — when it’s time for a reset.
Resetting doesn’t have to mean quitting, detoxing, or disappearing for a week. It means re-centering your body and brain so you can show up stronger. This week’s three things are designed for that exact purpose — small, repeatable resets that restore balance when life (or your inbox) is too much.
Three simple things to help you feel better, look better, and deal better.
🥗 Thing 1: The One-Bowl Rule
Why I’m Obsessed
Food shouldn’t require a spreadsheet. The One-Bowl Rule is my antidote to decision fatigue — one bowl, one decision, real food. It’s how I simplify nutrition without sacrificing flavor or results.
How to Do It / The Flow
Choose a base (quinoa, greens, or cauliflower rice), add a lean protein (salmon, chicken, tofu, or eggs), and finish with a healthy fat (avocado or olive oil). Add a dash of sesame oil or lemon juice for flavor, and you’ve got a complete meal in 10 minutes or less.
Pro Tip
Invest in beautiful, mid-sized bowls that make meals feel intentional — not rushed. Visual calm translates into mindful eating.
💪 Thing 2: The 10-Minute Rule
Why It Works
The hardest part of any workout is starting. The 10-Minute Rule removes the mental negotiation. You commit to just 10 minutes of movement — walk, stretch, plank, or climb. Nine times out of ten, you’ll keep going. But even if you don’t, those 10 minutes count.
How to Do It / The Flow
Set a timer, pick a song that flips your “go” switch, and move. If you need structure, try the 4-3-2-1 Formula from my book Business Class Fitness.
Pro Tip
Pair your movement with music that cues focus. I love starting with The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights — it’s impossible not to move.
🌙 Thing 3: The Digital Sunset
Why It Matters
Your phone may be your biggest source of dopamine — and depletion. The Digital Sunset helps you reclaim peace by giving your mind a nightly shutdown routine.
How to Do It / The Flow
One hour before bed, silence notifications, flip your phone face-down, and dim the lights. Replace scrolling with a candle, a stretch, or a gratitude list.
If you work late, treat this like a clock-out ritual — I even made a 25-second Sora video that shows this transition: I log off from the office, ignore missed calls, and head to a yoga class in my DAOFitLife gear.
Pro Tip
Repetition makes the ritual. Same candle, same playlist, same cozy space — your brain learns that these cues mean rest is non-negotiable.
✨ Wrap-Up: How to Make the Reset Ritual Stick
These three habits — one for your body, one for your mind, and one for your focus — are small enough to start today and powerful enough to change your rhythm.
When you feel scattered, remember: reset before you crash.
