Three things I swear by – Week of May 26

As a busy professional, you don’t have time for 10-step routines or gear-intensive workouts. But you do have time for in small, consistent hacks that make a massive difference in how you show up and show out.

Here are the three things I swear by this week to stay mentally sharp, physically ready, and in control:

This week is all about building confidence, minimizing temptation, and staying in motion—even when your schedule’s a mess.

Here are my three things I swear by right now:

1. Spray Tan = Instant Glow-Up

There’s something psychological about a fresh glow. When I get a spray tan, I feel like I’ve already been to the gym—stronger, sleeker, more energized.

It’s less about aesthetics and more about momentum. I call it a preemptive reward: the way I look post-tan motivates me to maintain that glow with movement, hydration, and clean eating.

But getting the most out of a spray tan isn’t just about showing up. It’s about the prep and the aftercare. Below is a simple cheat sheet that will help your glow last longer and look flawless from day one:

🌞 Spray Tan Prep + Aftercare Guide

✔️ BEFORE YOUR SPRAY TAN:

  • Shower, shave, and exfoliate (especially dry spots like elbows, knees, ankles)
  • Avoid lotions, oils, or deodorant on the day of your appointment
  • Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment
  • Remove all makeup, jewelry, and perfumes

⏳ AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN:

  • Avoid water and sweating for at least 8 hours
  • Don’t wear tight clothes or bras right after
  • Skip exfoliating and oil-based products for 5–7 days
  • Pat dry after showering—no rubbing
  • Moisturize daily to extend the life of your tan

🚫 Things to Avoid:

  • Bar soap and alcohol-based skincare products
  • Chlorine (pools, hot tubs)
  • Long hot showers or baths

2. Cleaning Counts as Cardio

Some of my best step counts come from 90s playlists and a Swiffer. Cleaning is movement. Period.

Whether it’s vacuuming, scrubbing, or reorganizing a closet—if you’re breaking a sweat, your body doesn’t care that it’s not a treadmill. Plus, you get the bonus of a clear space and a clearer mind.

3. Whiten Your Teeth to Kill Cravings

Here’s a weird-but-true trick I started doing years ago: if I’m craving something after dinner, I pop in a whitening strip. It sends a signal that the “kitchen is closed” and keeps me from grazing.

It also creates just enough discomfort (you don’t want to eat with those things on!) that I naturally delay or skip that snack.

These three habits are about strategic simplicity. No willpower Olympics. Just tiny mindset shifts that add up over time.
