Three Things I Swear By This Week: Hydrated Salads, Smarter Workouts, and WFH Wardrobe Resets

Date: August 28, 2025

I’ve found myself back in a fully remote setup — which I have not experienced since five years ago. At first, it sounded dreamy, but then, I realized I was falling into the “wearing sweats” trap. After years of the RTO hustle and hybrid arrangements, I realized I had to rebuild boundaries, wardrobes, and routines. As hybrid models waver and remote work stabilizes, these small routines have been my grounding force.

In fact, in 2025, about 22% of the U.S. workforce — over 32.6 million people — now work remotely, and a full 83% of global employees say hybrid arrangements are ideal. We Work RemotelyBacklinko+5Neat+5Yomly+5

👇 Here’s what’s saving my sanity this week:

🥗 Thing 1: Pimp Your Salad

Salads don’t have to be boring “diet food.” With the right ingredients, your salad becomes a fast, flavorful, filling meal — not a calorie bomb.

💪 Thing 2: The DIY Exercise Plan

Doing the same workout over and over is the fast lane to burnout. My DAOFitLife formula mixes it up: HIIT + LISS + Strength + Precision = Results.

🧥 Thing 3: Get Ready, Even If You WFH

WFH can blur the lines between “home mode” and “work mode.” One of the best tips: never stay in pajamas for work. Dressing with intention flips your brain into “show up” mode, even if your commute is just a few steps.

And it’s also important to dress up your “office,” too. Have a dedicated workspace with everything you need “set up” – cup of coffee, bottle of water, piece of fruit for a snack. Now you are ready to slay the day.

Why I’m Obsessed / Why It Works
By midweek, fatigue is often hydration-related. Coconut water provides electrolytes like potassium and magnesium that plain water doesn’t — which makes it a great way to recharge without reaching for another coffee.

How to Do It / The Flow
Make Wednesday your ritual day. Swap one of your normal drinks (afternoon latte, soda, or flavored water) for 8–12 ounces of coconut water. Keep it simple: chilled in a glass with ice or poured into your post-workout smoothie.

Pro Tip
Explore fun flavors to keep it interesting. Chocolate, pineapple, aloe, and Vita Coco’s strawberry & cream are my favorites. It feels indulgent without actually being a “treat.”

Make It Stick
Attach it to Wednesday — the day most of us feel drained. When you know the midweek slump is coming, a hydration reset becomes automatic.

2. Mix Up Your Routine

Why I’m Obsessed / Why It Works
Motivation tanks when workouts feel stale. Doing only cardio can stall strength gains. Doing only lifting can leave your endurance lagging. Variety isn’t just about balance; it keeps your body adapting and your brain engaged.

How to Do It / The Flow
Designate one day per week as your “wild card” workout. Try:

  • A long outdoor walk if you’ve been stuck indoors
  • A hot yoga class if you’ve only been lifting
  • A cycling class (indoor or outdoor) if you’ve been pounding the pavement

Pro Tip
Think of this as cross-training for life. Switching things up wakes up new muscles, prevents boredom, and helps you reset your motivation.

Make It Stick
Schedule your wild card workout in advance. If it’s in your calendar, it’s a commitment, not a maybe.

3. Closet Shift Into Fall

Why I’m Obsessed / Why It Works
Seasons can flip overnight. One minute it’s sundresses, the next it’s puffer coats. This is the perfect window to enjoy transitional pieces like windbreakers, leather jackets, and long layers before heavy coats dominate.

And here’s the kicker: what you wear isn’t just about fashion — it actually influences your mindset and performance. I wrote about this in my article on enclothed cognition, which explains how clothing impacts your confidence and behavior.

How to Do It / The Flow
Do a mini closet rotation this week. Pull forward transitional jackets, long layers, and lighter knits. Tuck away anything too summery or too wintery so your choices feel fresh and seasonally aligned.

Pro Tip
Pick one anchor piece — like a leather jacket or trench — and build a week of outfits around it. This helps you actually wear what you love instead of saving it until it’s “too late.”

Make It Stick
Use Sunday evening as your reset time. Ten minutes of intentional rotation means you’ll start the week with outfits that feel right for the season.

Wrapping It Up

The Three Things I Swear By this week are simple: hydrate with intention, shake up your workouts, and make a seasonal closet shift. These aren’t massive overhauls — they’re small rituals that help you feel aligned, energized, and ready to face the week.

Because at the end of the day, wellness isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things, at the right time, with intention.
